DEER ISLE – Ralph “Barr” McDonald, 50, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at a Bangor hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 11, 1954, in Blue Hill, the son of Ralph and Dawn (Snowden) McDonald. Barr worked at Billings Diesel and Marine for 27 years and was well known for his “boat riggin” and experience on the travel lift. He had a great sense of humor, and loved to travel, especially to get a good hamburger. Barr was an avid Red Sox fan, and he will always be remembered as being part of the “Moose Island Maulers” softball team and the Billings Diesel Thursday Night Golf Team. He enjoyed watching cooking shows and showing his cooking knowledge in the kitchen. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pam; six children, Leslie Rice and her husband, Brad, Adam McDonald, Cory McDonald, Lynsey Branson, Josh Walters, Ashley Branson; two grandchildren, Tyson and Peyton Rice; three sisters, Evelyn Siebert, Donna Billings, and Judy Greenlaw and her husband, Paul; a brother, David McDonald; a special friend and nephew, Doug Siebert; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Barr will also be missed by his two dogs, Maggie and Dakota. He was predeceased by his parents in 1980 and by a special brother-in-law, Wesley Siebert in 1999. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Camp-bell Funeral Home, Main St., Stonington. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Congregational Church of Deer Isle, Church St., Deer Isle. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Sunset, Deer Isle.
