DOVER-FOXCROFT – Our Mother, Ramona O. McPherson, passed over into a new life July 29, 2005, at a local hospital. She was born Feb. 26, 1916, in West Forks, to Jerome Edward and Nancy Laura (Durgin) Neal, one of 10 children, seven of whom are deceased. She attended schools in The Forks, Caratunk, and Skowhegan, with post graduate courses in Bennington, Vt. She later spent two years in Nurses Training at Central Maine General Hospital in Lewiston. In 1939, she married James Foss McPherson, who predeceased her in 1983. She was very family oriented and in her later years she devoted many hours to exchanging genealogy information with cousins and other relatives throughout many states. She spent many hours as a volunteer, both at “Meals for Me” and at Mayo Regional Hospital. She was also corresponding secretary for the Mayo Hospital Auxiliary for over 10 years. She was the first supervisor for the Older American Center, a program for seniors, when it was first introduced to this area in 1964. Ramona is survived by a son, James E. and friend, Donna Copeland of Dexter; three daughters, Martha A. Lary of Dover-Foxcroft, Pamela M. Kelley of Bangor, and Nancy M. Lovell and her husband, Phillip, of Dover-Foxcroft; two sisters, Jean Mundt and her husband, Paul, of Bellingham, Wash., and Betsy Patterson of East Hartford, Conn.; five grandchildren, Lisa King and her husband, Ben, Mara Scott and her husband, Michael, Dana Lovell and his wife, Joanne, Joshua McPherson, and MacKenzie Kelley; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves a special niece, Arline Bishop; two special great-nieces, Doris Jane Powell and Rose Fox and her husband, David; and a very special friend, Clara Patterson. A memorial service will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, with the Rev. Ernest Campbell officiating. A time of fellowship and sharing will follow the service at the church chapel.
