VERONA ISLAND – Ray M. Donnell, loving husband of Joyce L. Donnell of Verona Island, passed away Aug. 10, 2007, at a Bangor health care facility after a lengthy illness of Parkinson’s disease and Lewy Body Disease. He was born July 8, 1937, the son of Virginia and Fred Donnell of Sullivan. Ray spent many years traveling to different states and working his way as he went along. He worked at Robert Wardwell and Sons for 27 years. Ray enjoyed playing beano and playing cards with his friends. He especially enjoyed the trips he and Joyce took to Las Vegas. After marrying Joyce in 1983, he was blessed with an extended family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Maria and her husband, Mike Farmer, of Detroit; a son, Danny Donnell of Colorado; and a son, Scott of Pittsfield. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Cheryl and her husband, Jake Sutherland, of Bucksport, Julie and her husband, Herbert Gilley, of Verona Island, Gary Rogerson and his wife, Angela, of Orrington and Mark Rogerson and mate, Annette Nevells, of Sedgwick. His grandchildren include, Christy Allison and her husband, Steven, of Bucksport, Justin Sutherland of Bucksport, Kevin Gilley and his wife, January, of Indiana, Herbert Gilley Jr. and his wife, Meagan, of Winterport, Kobe and Logan Rogerson of Brewer, Lucas Rogerson of Bucksport, Paul Donnell of Las Vegas, Sheena Farmer of Detroit, Dakota Donnell of Colorado and Gage Donnell of Pittsfield; great-grandchildren, Landon Allison of Bucksport, Nathan Gilley of Indiana, Keon Donnell of Nevada and Samantha Donnell of Old Orchard; a stepsister, Elaine McKenzie of New Jersey; a brother-in-law, Ralph Remick and his wife, Julia, of North Orland; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Murphy of Ellsworth; and brother-in-law, Donald Clark and friend, Bea, of Lamoine; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He leaves a special friend, Duane Wardwell of Orland; great neighbors and his special visitor and friend, Zoe the dog! Ray was predeceased by his parents; and a stepdaughter, Brenda Rogerson. Brenda is our special angel and she will see, Ray, that your journey to God is a peaceful one. You will never be alone. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A graveside memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Woodbine Cemetery, Ells-worth, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating.
