SORRENTO – Raymond E. Fenton, 92, died Nov. 4, 2005, surrounded with his loving family at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. He was born Feb. 8, 1913, in Northeast Harbor, the son of Archibald G. and Anna (Flewelling) Fenton. Raymond was very clever with his hands. He worked for E.L. Shea for more than 30 years as a finish carpenter. He worked at Dow Air Force Base during World War II and for E.C. Bragdon-C.E. Hale Contractors for several years. He also worked for Kenneth Bunker who built Sumner High School and schools in Bradley and Milford. Raymond was one of the original founding members of the Sorrento Fire Department. He was a Mason with the David Hooper Lodge No. 201 of Sullivan, a member of the Pentecostal Church of Charleston and Unionville Church of God. He is survived by his daughter, Nadine Sutherland and husband, Louis Sr., of Sorrento; grandchildren, Daniel Stratton, Teri Linscott, David Stratton, Lori Stratton-Jones, Louis Sutherland Jr., Coleen Slaney, Brent Sutherland; seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a brother, Myles Fenton of Sorrento. He was predeceased by both wives, Alfreda P. Fenton in 1963, and Clara Ella Fenton in 1993; a daughter, Doloris Stratton; grandson, Bryant Ray Sutherland; a brother, Donald Fenton and sister-in-law, Evon Fenton. Friends may visit with the family from 3:30-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth with Pastor Floyd Flynn officiating.
