VAN BUREN – Raymond J. Violette, 63, died unexpectedly April 21, 2007, at his St. John Avenue residence in Van Buren. He was born Dec. 6, 1943, in Saco, the son of Leo F. and Annette (Dubay) Violette. Raymond lived and worked in Florida for a brief time, but spent most of his career in the Bristol, Conn., area. He was employed by White Oaks Construction and a member of the local union, where he worked in the construction trades. He was an accomplished carpenter and builder who took great pride in his work. He was also a landlord in the Bristol, Conn., area for many years. He had an outstanding work ethic and was always willing to help a friend in need. Ray was an honest and true friend to many, had a great sense of humor, and few people he met did not immediately take to him for these qualities. He will be missed by many. Ray is survived by his son, Steven Violette and his companion, Kimberlee, of Canterbury, Conn.; his grandson, Jeremy Violette; two brothers, Clarence Violette of Van Buren and Robert Violette of Rocky Hill, Conn.; two sisters, Rita Bouchard of Frenchville and Gloria Theriault of North Caribou. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Poulin) Violette, who died in 2006. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday until time of service at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be in the family lot of St. Bruno Cemetery later this spring.
