LIBERTY – Raymond O. Hannon, 96, died March 5, 2005, at the home of his son, Dean Hannon and his wife, Leverna, of Liberty. He was born Sept. 26, 1908, in Washington, the son of the late Ernest Hannon and Flavia (Parson) Hannon. He met and married his wife of 62 years, Hilda M. (Sherman) Hannon, who died March 19, 1997. Although he lived part of his early years in the Portland area and attended schools there, he also attended some local schools in this area, such as the Old Mountain School in Washington, and grammar school in East Palermo. He was very versatile, and he was able to do a lot of different jobs, from farming, factory work, and breaking snow. The biggest part of his profession was in the wood business, where he estimated the value of growth, cutting, hauling and sawing. He also operated the steam boilers at the old mill in the “kingdom”. He was also a Mason of the Liberty Lodge for 55 years, and served for three years on the school committee. He was predeceased by a daughter, Hazel (Hannon) Choate of Liberty; a great-granddaughter, Heidi L. Hannan; and his two brothers, Maxwell Hannan and his wife, Flossie, and George Hannon. He is survived by his son, Dean R. Hannon I, and his wife, Leverna B., of Liberty; four grandchildren, Dean R. Hannon II and his wife, Carole, Tammy Johnston and her husband, Ryan, Debra Stevens and her husband, Nelson, Rowena Marr and her husband, Harold, and three great-grandchildren, Christopher Hannon, Zachary Hannon, and Katrina Marr; one sister, Olive and her husband, Joe Lucariello; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, March 9, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home-Gray Chapel, 207 Windsor Neck Road, Windsor, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2005.
