ROCKLAND – Regina Antoinette Fabiszak Chisholm, 77, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, surrounded by her family at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Dr. Robert S. Chisholm, who died Feb. 7, 2003. Born Nov. 2, 1926, in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late William and Antoinette Fabiszak. She was educated in Baltimore, graduating from the Catholic High School in 1945, and the former Mount St. Agnes College of Baltimore, now known as Loyola College in Maryland, receiving a bachelor’s of arts degree in 1949. After graduating from college, she worked as a laboratory technician at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where she met Robert Chisholm. They married June 9, 1952, at St. William of York Catholic Church in Catonsville, Maryland. The couple made their home in Rockland, where Robert established a dental practice and Regina was a warm and loving mother to her six sons. Mrs. Chisholm enjoyed her role as a homemaker at their Summer Street home where she resided continuously until her recent illness, and was active in the community. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Parish, the Daughters of St. Bernard’s, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Lady Lions and Knox County General Hospital, and Penobscot Bay Medical Center Auxiliary. She loved and appreciated the arts and was a volunteer at the Farnsworth Art Museum. Regina enjoyed spending long summer days at the family’s cottage on Timber Point in Friendship, where she prepared large seafood bakes for family and guests. She also enjoyed reading, classical music and the opera. She traveled extensively in her younger years throughout Europe and the Caribbean. She enjoyed meeting people of different backgrounds and encouraged her sons to be accepting of all. Regina’s closest friends in Baltimore, Maryland, and Maine all remembered her remarkable sense of humor. Mrs. Chisholm is survived by six sons, David R. Chisholm of Washington, D.C., Peter J. Chisholm and his wife, Dominica, of Danvers, Mass., Jeffery B. Chisholm of Falls Church, Va., Stephen J. Chisholm of Washington, D.C., Matthew J. Chisholm and Mark J. Chisholm, both of New York City; one brother-in-law, John V. Chisholm of Danvers, Mass.; and one niece, Ann Woitkowski and her husband, Joseph, of Beverly, Mass. Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2004, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland, with interment immediately following at St. James Catholic Cemetery, Thomaston. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Parish Center.
