ORLAND – Regina Howard Leach, 79, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at a Bangor hospital after a long battle with Hepatitis C. She was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Orland, the daughter of John “Reg” and Madeline (Clement) Howard. Regina was a graduate of Bucksport High School, Class of 1944. Upon graduation she was employed at Seaboard Paper Co., Bucksport, but left employment to become a homemaker when she married Norman Brently Leach Dec. 4, 1944. A voracious reader, Regina loved her family and neighborhood of “Hardscrabble”, being born and living there for more than 78 years. For the last three months, she had resided at her granddaughter-in-law’s boarding home, Golden Acres, in Franklin. Regina is survived by two children, Norman Brently Leach II and wife, Lillian, of Penobscot and Bryna Leach Leeman of Orland; seven grandchildren, Nicky Yeo and husband, Russell, of Stockton Springs, Kelly Stacy, Wade Leach and Earl Leach, all of Penobscot, Cindra Leeman of Bucksport, David Leeman and wife, Diane Dow, of Franklin, and Christine Shorey and husband, Daniel, of Bucksport; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Margaret and Read McAllian of Bucksport, Kasey and Rochelle Pelletier of Stockton Springs, Cooper Shorey of Bucksport and Ransom Leeman of Franklin; one nephew, Ivan A. Davis and wife, Betsy, of Liberty; one niece, Christine Brackett of Liberty; several greatnieces and nephews; three very special cousins, Ann Warren and husband, Donald, of Mount Vernon, Patricia Kreshpane and husband, Harry and John Howard and wife, Anna, of Massachusetts. In addition to her parents, Regina was predeceased by her husband, Norman B. Leach in 1973; sister, LaVerne Davis in 1953; beloved dog, her beagle “Tiny.” A graveside memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Oak Grove Cemetery, Orland with Pastor Jeff Davis officiating.
