BEALS – Reginald “Reggie” Merchant, 64, passed away peacefully the morning of Dec. 16, 2005. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his children, Gordon Powell of Virginia Beach, Va., Ethel Johnson and her husband, Dwayne, of Grandy, N.C., Irene Edwards and her husband, Casey, of Youngstown, Ohio and Lisa Mitchell and Steven Merchant, both of Beals; he also leaves five grandchildren, Mariann Johnson, John Edwards, Jessica Johnson, Reginald Mitchell and Justin Edwards. Additionally, he is survived by two brothers, Ellery Jr. and Quentin; and four sisters, Ella, Evelyn, Susie and Eunice; and friend and niece, Janet Cirone; friend and employer of many years, Albert Carver and many other nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann; parents, Ellery Sr. and Amanda; a sister, Josephine; and friend and brother-in-law, Gordon Backman. Relatives and friends may call 10 a.m.-noon Monday, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at the Great Wass Cemetery, Beals. If desired, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
