HOLDEN and BANGOR -Reginald S. Booker Jr., 77, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, May 26, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born Aug. 2, 1926, in Bangor, the son of Reginald Sr. and Harriet (Hall) Booker. Reginald was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during World War II, in the European Theater as a medical Core man on the USS Ranger, later he was transferred to the 2nd Marine Division as a medic. He was a member of the Isaac E. Clewley VFW post 4917 of Brewer. He owned and operated Mr. Reginald’s Hair Fashion Salons in the Bangor area. Reginald was the hair style director for the State of Maine. He competed in many hair styling competitions where he won first place every time. Reginald was a licensed Baptist Lay Pastor. He was a member of the Essex Street Baptist Church, where he served on many committees and was appointed Deacon Emeritus. Reginald loved his church. He was an avid sportsman he enjoyed field archery, bowling, hunting, and fishing, he even tied his own flies and made his own arrows. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Waneta (Burby) Booker of Holden; four children, Brenda Booker of Ocala, Fla., Bonnie Drew of Bangor, Larry Booker and his wife, Patti, of Orrington, Robin and her husband, Roger Fulcher, of Bangor; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Herweg; two brothers, Nathan and David Booker; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Paul Booker. The family would like to thank the staff of Westgate Manor for all of the care and consideration. Friends may call 10-12 noon and 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 29, with the Rev. Randall Wilbur, pastor of the Essex Street Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. The Family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments following the service Saturday at Larry and Patti Booker’s home on Center Drive in Orrington.
