LEWISTON and MADAWASKA – Remie R. Deschaine Jr., 49, died Aug. 18, 2007, at a Lewiston hospital. He was born April 1, 1958, in Connecticut, the son of Remie “Roger” and Jacqueline (Michaud) Deschaine. He was raised and educated in Winsted, Conn. In 1973 the family relocated to Madawaska. Remie was a sports enthusiast and excelled in high school basketball, he was known for his three-point shots and his spontaneous personality. He married his high school sweetheart, the light of his life, Janice Sirois in 1978, in Madawaska, and raised five loving children. He was employed as a supervisor for Lewiston Shoe factory for 18 years. Remie is survived by his wife, Janice (Sirois) Deschaine of Lewiston; four daughters, Darlene Asselin and her husband, Jerry, Nicole Deschaine, Melissa Deschaine and Sierra Deschaine, all of Lewiston; one son, Remie III and his wife, Sara, of Auburn; three sisters, Linda Deschaine, Gwen Gervais, both of Madawaska and Patricia Levesque of Van Buren; three brothers, Clifford Deschaine of Van Buren, Richard Deschaine of Madawaska and Leo “Joe” of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Draven and Jocelyn Asselin; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Christina in 1978, his father in 1972 and his mother in 2005. Upon his request there will be no funeral services. A graveside service will be held in the spring of 2008 in Madawaska. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to his wife, Janice Deschaine, 24 Union St., 1st floor, Lewiston, ME 04240.
