BROOKSVILLE – Rena (Hunnewell) Gray, passed away peacefully April 25, 2006, at Somerset Rehabilitation and Living Center in Bingham. She was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Pleasant Ridge Plantation, the daughter of Floyd and Essie Hunnewell. She graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington, formerly Farmington State Teacher’s College, in 1936. She married Gerald Gray in 1939. She taught home economics at Brooksville High School for four years, Maine Central Institute for one year, and George Stevens Academy for 15 years. Rena also taught developmental reading at George Stevens Academy for 10 years. She was a home demonstration agent for Waldo, Penobscot and Hancock Counties for three years. She retired from George Stevens Academy in 1977. She and her husband, Gerald Gray, lived their lives in Brooksville where they operated Breezemere Farm until the death of Gerald in 1969. She is survived by a son, John Gray and his wife, Leona, of Brooksville; a daughter, Jane Bowden and her husband, Robert, of Pleasant Ridge Plantation; grandchildren, Stacey Ericson, Jenna Bowden, Lydia Garrant, Jerry Gray and Liza Saturley; great-grandchildren, Lily and Jack Gray, and Alexandria and Tony Garrant; her brother, Robert Hunnewell and his wife, Geraldine, of Bingham and their children, Eugene Hunnewell, Beatrice Bridges and Essie Golden; a sister, Lucille Currier and her husband, Blynn and their children, Steven Currier, Kathy Levesque, Robert Currier and Patricia Gordon. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. May 6, at the Brooksville Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rena’s memory to the Brooksville Methodist Church, P.O.
