BREEZEWOOD, Pa. – The Rev. Gene Carver, 60, was called home to be with the Lord Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007. He was born Feb. 23, 1947, in Island Falls, a son of Adrian Carver and Ruby (Willette) Carver of Mount Chase. The Rev. Carver was a retired pastor and member of the Breezewood Lighthouse Assembly of God. After high school, he attended Zion Bible Institute, East Providence, R.I., earning a pastoral diploma, and then earned a masters degree in theological studies in International Christian Relations, at Vision International University. After graduation, he began serving as a pastor in Littleton, at Littleton Full Gospel Church, and then was the youth pastor at Bethel Assembly of God, Chambersburg, Pa. He then served as a pastor at Kingston Full Gospel Temple, Kingston, Pa., Farrell Christian Academy, Farrell, Pa., and was pastor at Breezewood Lighthouse Assembly of God until his retirement. Rev Carver traveled worldwide as a missionary for more than 27 years, was one of the directors of Barnabas Ministries, Rumford, R.I., and served as a presbyter for the International Fellowship of Christian Assemblies. He enjoyed woodworking, especially enjoyed being “Bapa” to his five grandchildren, and was a loving son, husband, brother, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by his family, friends and church community. On July 12, 1969, in Patten, he married Elizabeth E. (Nicholson) Carver. She survives along with their children, Chantel and husband, Joe Charette, of Hedgesville, W.Va., Elissa and husband, Dave Onufrock, of Warrenville, Ill., Jon Carver and wife, Casey, of Cassville, Pa.; five grandchildren, Lewis and Katie, Eli and Kassi and Xander; a sister, Sharon and husband, Blaine Jacket, of Houlton; and three brothers, the Rev. Dan Carver and wife, Patti, of Leechburg, Pa., Dana Carver and wife, Bethanne, of Patten and Jim Carver and wife, Tammy, of New Limerick. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Reona Carver; and two brothers, Dick Carver and Roger Carver. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Breezewood Lighthouse Assembly of God, Breezewood, Pa., with the Rev. David Wyns, the Rev. Nat Saginario and the Rev. Dan Carver officiating. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, Pa., and 10 a.m. Thursday until the hour of service at the church.
