NORTHPORT – Rachel Hurd Bonin, 97, passed away Sept. 25, 2007, at her residence. She was born Nov. 2, 1909, in Williamstown, Vt., the daughter of Joseph and Edith (Hurd) Rollins. She spent most of her time raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren which she enjoyed very much. She loved music and singing and going to dances when she was younger. Rachel loved family gatherings. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Bonin; her sons, Robert Bonin and James Bonin; daughter, Marilyn Dean; two grandsons, Scott Hoyte and John Dean; granddaughter, Katherine Dean. Rachel is survived by her children, Elenor Hoyte and husband, Bill, of Holbrook, Mass., Jeanne Patten and husband, Donald, of Northport, Stella Hoyte of Ashland, Mass., Louis Bonin and wife, Selma, of Northport, Anthony Bonin and wife, Sandra, of Northport, Edgar Bonin of Northport, Thomas Bonin and wife, Pauline, of Northport and Maritte Elwell and husband, Wayne, of Northport; 138 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at Beech Hill Cemetery, Northport.
