CHARLESTON and OAKFIELD – Rev. Marvin E. Lawrence, 77, became absent from his body, but present with his Lord after a long illness Jan. 24, 2006, in Bangor. He was born July 10, 1928, the son of Hollis and Alma (Harper) Lawrence. Rev. Lawrence graduated from Zion Bible Institute, East Providence, R.I. in 1950. After graduating he assumed the pastorate of his home church in Knoxford, N.B., Canada. After pastoring there for five and a half years, he accepted the pastorate of the Bethel Pentecostal Church in Oakfield and Smyrna Mills. He pastored faithfully there for 39 years and retired in 1995. It was at that time that he served for several years as the vice-chairman of Pentecostal Campground Association. During retirement he enjoyed ministering in various congregations in Aroostook County, in particular, he enjoyed a warm and gracious time of ministry with Full Gospel Assembly of Mars Hill. He enjoyed annual sojourns to a hunting camp as well as time spent fishing. Rev. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geraldine; one daughter, Cathy and her husband, Paul Dunfee, of Corinth; three sons, Rev. Sterling Lawrence and his wife, Tanya, of Albany, N.Y., Rev. Norman Lawrence and his wife, Brenda, of Millersburg, Pa., Rev. Brent Lawrence and his wife, Mariela, of Chicago, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Esther and her husband, Scott Littlefield, of Glenburn, Naomi Pier of Corinth, Ryan Lawrence of Albany, N.Y., Dwayne Lawrence of Millersburg, Pa., Lindsay Lawrence of Albany, N.Y. and Aaron Lawrence of Millersburg, Pa.; stepgrandchildren, Brent Dunfee and Heather Dunfee of Corinth; one sister, Ruth McGrath of Centreville, N.B., Canada; and one brother, Eldon and his wife, Leona, of Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers and one sister, Arthur Lawrence of Knoxford, N.B., Canada and Raymond Lawrence of Perth Andover, N.B., Canada and Evelyn McDonald of Knoxford, N.B., Canada. The family wishes to extend gratitude for the compassionate care given by the staff of Ross Manor and St. Joseph’s Home Health and Hospice. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Charleston Pentecostal Church, Main Street, Charleston. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Charleston Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. Matthew Ward, officiating. A spring interment will take place at the Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Rev.
