SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Rhoda “Elaine” (Hamblen) Carney, 83, died Nov. 9, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Jan. 31, 1922, in Bass Harbor, the daughter of Leslie E. and Wilda (Reed) Hamblen. Elaine was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Eastern Star and a former member of the Manset Union Church. She is survived by two daughters, Judith and Ronald Lewis of Tucson, Ariz. and Rhonda and Colin Elliott of Monument, Mass.; two sisters, Mildred Richardson of Town Hill and Cora Myrtle Hancock of Southwest Harbor; four grandchildren, Caryn Lewis, Chad Lewis, Heather Elliott and Christina Elliott; and two great-grandchildren. Service of remembrance will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert.
