ROCKLAND – Richard A. St. Clair, 80, a resident of Rockland died Wed-nesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at the Togus VA Hospital in Augusta, after a brief illness. Mr. St. Clair was born May 12, 1924, in Rockland, the son of Arthur G. and Edna Benner St. Clair, and attended local area schools. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the pacific aboard destroyers. He was employed with the Rockland Water District after returning home from the service, and also was employed by McLoun’s Bottled Gas Company and most recently Bon A. Vodas for 20 years as a binderman, retiring in 1976. He was a life member of the D.A.V, chapter No. 13 in Rockland and enjoyed riding his moped, gardening and spent many hours with his beloved cat Pretty Girl. Mr. St. Clair was predeceased by his wife, Kathryn Dean St. Clair, who died in 1997; and a grandson, Nathan St. Clair, who died in 1983. Survivors include three sons, Richard A. St. Clair and his wife, Ellen, of Northport, Gary A. St. Clair and his wife, Judy, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Gerald St. Clair and his wife, Michele, of Rockport; a brother, Arthur F. St. Clair and his wife, Natalie, of Farmington; grandchildren Jason St. Clair and his companion, Tiffany Andrews, of Lincolnville, Jamie St. Clair and his wife, Pam, of Northport, Heather St. Clair of Lincolnville, Renee’ St. Claire of Maui, Hawaii, Pamela St. Clair of Portland, Alecia Robitaille of Rockland; great-grandchildren, Chandler St. Clair, Isabella St. Clair, and Lexi St. Clair; a sister-in-law, Gwendolyn “Cubby” Korhonen of Thomaston, also several other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visiting hours for friends and family will be held Monday, Jan. 31, 6-8 p.m. at the Hall & Davis Funeral Home, 35 Knox St., Thomaston. A spring graveside service will be held at the Acorn Cemetery in Rockland.
