CASTINE – Richard A. Falk, 91, died April 9, 2006, at home with his family, after a brief stay at the hospital. He was born July 11, 1914, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He graduated from Huntington High School on Long Island, N.Y. After receiving a degree in chemical engineering from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute, he worked at The Long Island Lighting Company, then with Koppers Company in Pittsburgh Pa., and then became the chief consultant at Sweet’s Catalog Service in New York (later F.W. Dodge and then Mc Graw Hill). He lived most of his life on Long Island before moving to Maine 30 years ago. He was an active member of the town of Castine, where he was a past chairman of the Planning Board, a member of the Building Committee of the Unitarian Church, and a member of the Castine Golf Club and the Men’s Club. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara (Baker) Falk; two daughters, Priscilla McAneny of Bar Harbor, Barbara Nigro of Carlsbad, Calif.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. There will be a gathering to remember Dick in Castine in June. Those who wish may make a donation in his honor to Hancock County Home Care and Hospice, 82 Water St., P.O.
