RICHARD ALAN ‘SKIP’ GRASS SR. EAST MILLINOCKET – Richard Alan “Skip” Grass Sr., 60, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, after a yearlong, courageous fight with cancer. Skip was born Jan. 9, 1947, in Lincoln, to Fred and Emma Grass. He lived the past 21 years with his wife and best friend, Deborah (Crocker) Grass. Skip was proud to have worked his way up to machine tender at Katahdin Paper and worked there for 36 years. Skip was a member of Pine Tree Lodge No. 172, AF & AM, Mattawamkeag, since 1971 and was a past district deputy. He served as lodge master of Pine Tree Lodge in 1977, 1978, 1982 and 1993. He served as district deputy grand master of the 24th District of Grand Lodge of Maine in 1984 and 1985. Skip’s second home was Camp Fishhead on Nesowadnehunk Lake, which he shared with the second best fisherman in the world, David Nisbett. Skip loved camping at Old Orchard Beach with his immediate family of 20, enjoying swimming in the ocean and cooking over campfires. He was a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Lee, where he and his wife, Debbie, were baptized Nov. 12, 2006. In addition to his wife, Skip is survived by his children, Kristy Grass Chapman and her husband, Ray, of Dedham, Christina Lyons Doore and her husband, David, of Enfield, Shannon Grass McGlinchey and her husband, Steve, of Manchester, N.H., and Nicholas Lyons and his wife, Heather, of East Millinocket; the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Jacob McCready, Zachary Doore, Rylee Lyons, Isaac Doore, Jocelyn McGlin-chey, Eliana Chapman, Eben Lyons, Christie Rose Chapman and Ben Chapman; great- granddaughter, Gabrielle Scovil; two brothers, Gerry Crocker of Lincoln and Barry Crocker and his wife, Robin, of West Enfield; two sisters, Nancy Grass Eckleberry and her husband, Jeremiah, of Friendship and Gayle Hale-Skipper of East Millinocket; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dan and Chris Crocker of Glenburn, Rachel Arnold and her husband, Bobby, of Lincoln, Billy Fogg of Lincoln; his father-in-law, Searle Crocker and his wife, Bev, of Lee; and his favorite mother-in-law, Madeline Fogg and her husband, Bill, of Lincoln; an aunt, Rowena Trott of Lincoln; an uncle, Gid Leavitt of Lincoln; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Skip was predeceased by his beloved son, Ricky; and his Aunt Midge. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where a Masonic service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the officers and members of Pine Tree Lodge No. 172. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Vince Hartford officiating. Interment will be at East Millinocket Cemetery.
