MILFORD – Richard C. Foster, 77, died June 15, 2004 at a Bangor hospital following a short illness. He was born in Old Town, June 24, 1926, a son of Carl P. and Nora (Randall) Foster. Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He attended Old Town High School and served in the U.S. Navy for six and a half years. He was previously employed by Old Town Canoe, White Canoe and Diamond International. He was a life member of VFW Post No. 3381 and American Legion Post No. 84. Richard enjoyed spending time with close friends and family. He also enjoyed his morning coffee at McDonald’s. He was an avid race fan and sports enthusiast. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Florence M. (Martin) Foster on Dec 24, 1988 and his parents. He is survived by his son, Thomas R. Foster and his wife, Donna M. of Milford; a brother, Donald Foster and his wife, Patricia, of Old Town; two granddaughters, Stephanie L. (Foster) Violette and her husband, David, of Eddington, Michelle M. (Foster) Smith and her husband, Shane, of Palmetto, Fla.; great-grandson, Zachary T. Violette and great-granddaughter, Riley E. Violette; sister-in-law, Vivian Lawrence and her husband, Gerald, of Old Town; several nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where members of VFW Post 3381 will conduct a chapel service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Normand Richard officiating. Burial with military honors will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town.
