NEW SHARON – Richard D. “Rick” McAllian Sr., 59, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at his home. He was born April 20, 1948, in Castine, a son of Wilfred McAllian Sr. and Gloria (Choate) Curtis. He attended school in Bucksport. A U.S. Navy veteran, Rick served during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Wasp aircraft carrier. On Sept. 24, 1994, he married Patricia Martineau in Belgrade Lakes and worked as a custodian for the State of Maine in Augusta. Rick was passionate about cars. He loved to buy and sell them and also had a particular fondness for old ones. He collected models of all sorts, bird houses and also enjoyed working with wood, making furniture. He will be remembered as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He is survived by his wife, Patricia of New Sharon; his mother, Gloria Curtis of Monroe; his father, Wilfred McAllian Sr. of Bucksport; children, Jennifer Dodge of Jackson, Robert McAllian of Rhode Island, Aaron McAllian of Rhode Island, Angela Bashaw of Newburgh, Richard McAllian Jr. of Belfast and Sierra McAllian of Arkansas; brothers, Kenneth McAllian of Ellsworth, Thomas McAllian of Monroe, Wilfred McAllian Jr. of Rhode Island and Daniel McAllian of Bucksport; a sister, Karen Harriman of Bucksport; nine grandchildren, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service & Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington.
