BUCKSPORT – Richard “Dick” Ashey, 60, died unexpectedly July 27, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born August 25, 1943, in Searsport, the son of Desmond T. and Clara (Morse) Ashey. He graduated from Searsport High School in 1962. He retired from International Paper Co., Bucksport, in January of 2004, after 40 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Dick is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara (Hiltebrand) Ashey of Bucksport; two sons, Jeff Ashey and wife, Melissa of Bangor, Scott Ashey of Trenton and his special friend, Barbara Gray, and family; three grandchildren, Nick, Noah, and Brooke; sister, Elaine Street and husband, Fred, of Milford; four brothers, Terrance Ashey and wife, Gloria, of Verona Island, Ronald Ashey and wife, Carol, of Searsport, Lee Ashey and wife, Linda, of Searsport, Michael Ashey and wife, Donna, of Belfast; mother in-law and father in-law, Esther and Kenneth Boober of Orland; several nieces and nephews; many friends. Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2004, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating.
