SR. SOUTHWEST HARBOR Richard “Dick” “Red” Harlan LaHaye Sr., 75, died June 17, 2007, at an Ellsworth health care facility. He was born April 2, 1932, in Lebanon, N.H., the son of Harry Harlan and Esther (Benjamin) LaHaye. Red was a lifelong member and past master of the Warren Masonic Lodge No. 16. Red was also a member of the Elks Lodge, Rockland and the Team-sters Union. He was an avid golfer and member of the Causeway Club and enjoyed all sports, especially the Patriots, New York Giants and Red Sox. Red is survived by three sons, Richard H. LaHaye Jr. and wife, Pamela, of Belfast, Wayne B. LaHaye of Sharon, Vt., and James L. LaHaye of Southwest Harbor; three daughters, Carroll M. LaHaye of Ashland, Va., Diane H. Simmons of Waldoboro and Tracy L. Blais and husband, Willy, of Delta Junction, Alaska; his beloved partner, Pat Sawyer; two brothers, Frank LaHaye and Louis LaHaye; three sisters, Isabelle Boisvert, Roxanne Smith and Kathryn Gillen; nine grandchildren, Matthew and Kathryn LaHaye, Mark and Megan LaHaye, Allison LaHaye, Jason, Jessica and Jared Simmons and Ben Blais; and one great-grandchild, Carmen LaHaye. He was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn (Carroll) LaHaye; three brothers, William LaHaye, John LaHaye and Robert LaHaye; and three sisters, Irene Gillen, Beverly Joslyn and Carolyn Courier. Services of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. Contributions in Red’s memory may be made to the Southwest Harbor Library, P.O.
