ORONO and WINTERPORT – Richard Edward Havey, 74, husband of Mary (Hewitt) Havey, died June 30, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 21, 1932, in Bethel, Vt., the son of Vernon and Angie (Ogetti) Havey. Dick graduated from Winterport High School in 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served a two-year duty. He was a member of Howard Lodge of Masons. Dick retired from the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad with more than 30 years of service. He was an avid harness racing fan. In addition to his wife, Mary of Orono, he is survived by three daughters, Debbie Janulewicz of Massachusetts, Cathleen McFarlin of Winterport and Wendy Wood of Virginia; seven stepchildren, Laurie Albert of Winterport, Capt. Robert Hall of Virginia, Eric Hall of Massachusetts, Sara Belisle of New Hampshire, William Hall of Massachusetts, Ellen Hall of California and Edwin Hall of Massachusetts; several grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Havey and wife, Dottie, of Frankfort and Gary Havey. A memorial service celebrating Dick’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at the Ellingwoods Corner United Methodist Church, Winterport, with Pastor Chuck Langbein officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Ellingwoods Corner UMC, 796 Lebanon Rd., Winterport, ME 04496.
