BAILEYVILLE – Gertrude Anne Hastings, 92, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at a Calais nursing home. Gertrude was born Sept. 2, 1913, in Richabucto, New Brunswick, daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth (MacDonald) Robichaud. She married Daniel W. Hastings Sr. Sept. 6, 1935, in Calais. Gertrude was a communicant of St. James the Greater R.C. Church, Baileyville. She enjoyed teaching round dancing in Maine and in Florida for many years with her husband, spending time with her family, and wintering in Florida. Gertrude will be remembered for the many dishcloths she made for the St. James the Greater Church Bazaar. She was predeceased by two sisters, Kathleen Coleman and Lillian Brockway; and a brother, Richard Robinson. Surviving are her loving husband of more than 70 years, Daniel Hastings Sr.; a son, Daniel Hastings Jr. and wife, Louise, of Gorham; a sister, Ethel Mann of Brewer; a sister-in-law, Joyce Somers of Brewer; six grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. James the Greater R.C.
