PORTAGE LAKE – Richard E. Morneault, 75, died unexpectedly Sept. 13, 2006, in Ashland. He was born Feb. 7, 1931, in Presque Isle, the son of Edgar R. and Mildred (Jenkins) Morneault. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, a life member the LeBlanc-Junkins Post 9699 of Ashland and the of Disabled American Veterans Chapter of Mapleton. He was also a member of the Ashland Fish and Game and Presque Isle Fish Club and Game Club. He had been employed as a machinist for General Motors in Bristol, Conn., until his retirement and subsequent move to Portage, 18 years ago. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ruth (Hutson) Morneault of Portage Lake; two sons, Ronald Morneault of Portage Lake and William Morneault of Marlborough, Conn.; three daughters, Joy Morton and her husband, Bill, of Lebanon, Conn., Bonnie Wurmnest and her husband, Craig, of South Windsor, Conn., and Sandra Kemp and her husband, David, of Alphretta, Ga.; three sisters, Helen Sandford and Patricia Bowden, both of Florida and Janet Carroll of Arizona; and 12 grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call 11 a.m. Monday until the time of service at Our Lady of the Catholic Church, Portage Lake. A funeral Mass will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the church. Committal service, with military honors, will be held after the service at the Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
