LAKE PLACID, Fla. – Richard H. Beckwith, 72, died at his home in Lake Placid, Fla., under the care of Good Shepherd Hospice, Friday, Aug. 20, 2004. He was predeceased by his parents, Hoyt and Alberta Beckwith of Bangor and the Sebring, Fla. area. Mr. Beckwith and his wife of 50 years, moved to Lake Placid, Fla., in 1975 from New Jersey where he was an ironworker. He was a 1949 graduate of Milo High School in Milo. He served in the Army 3rd Division during the Korean War. He was also a member of the VFW, Chapter 4300, the Elks Club and the American Legion of Lake Placid. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet, of Lake Placid, Fla.; daughter, Rene (Douglas) Bailey of Sebring, Fla.; sons, Roger (Cindy) of Browns Mills, N.H., Robert (Yvonne) of Sebring, Fla. and Richard D. (Ava) of Forest, Va.; brother, Ralph (Marlene) of Bangor; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In accordance with his wishes there will be no memorial service.
