ELLSWORTH and GARDINER Richard L. Brown Sr., 72, died unexpectedly Monday, July 28, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born May 17, 1936, in Ellsworth, son of the late Charles and Madelyn (Dunn) Brown. Mr. Brown was a heavy equipment operator for Bridge Construction of Augusta and most recently worked as a crane operator for Cianbro of Pittsfield, retiring in the late 1990s. Mr. Brown enjoyed salt-water sailing, hunting and fishing. He shared 52 years of marriage with Rosalie (Carter) Brown. In addition to his wife, family members include his two children, Richard L. Brown Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Pittston and Rosemarie Brown of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two grandsons, Richard and Justin Brown; several nieces, nephews and cousins; including a cousin, Judy Crossman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Edward L. Brown. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth.
