FORT FAIRFIELD – Richard P. Cyr, 81, died unexpectedly, Saturday mor-ning, Sept. 8, 2007, at a Ban-gor health care facility. He was born June 3, 1926, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Charles and Annie (Nadeau) Cyr. He attended Fort Fairfield schools and served his country in the U.S. Army from Nov. 14, 1950 to Nov. 19, 1952, having served during the Korean War, attaining the rank of corporal and was a member of the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Fort Fairfield. Richard had been employed for many years at the former Birdseye Processing Plant, Presque Isle. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cyr was predeceased by his first wife, Odile (St. Peter) Cyr; and two brothers, Arthur and Robert Cyr. He is survived by two sisters, Laura Browning of Fort Fairfield and Clara Jackson and her husband, Louis, of Caribou; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. David Raymond. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie celebrant. Interment will be private. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held immediately after the funeral Mass at VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Cyr to the Disabled American Veterans’ Memorial Program, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH, 45250-0301.
