BANGOR – Rachel M. (Martin) Dow, 61, died unexpectedly Sept. 7, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Dec. 14, 1945, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Francis and Ada (Steward) Martin. Rachel had owned and operated three convenience stores in Ellsworth, Brewer and Hampden. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Donna Darcy; and two nieces, Patty and Sarah. She is survived by her two daughters, Cathy Breen and her husband, Jerry, of Bangor and Marianne DeRaps and her husband, John, of Lincoln; two sons, Michael and Henry Dow of New Hampshire; five grandchildren, Michael, Brianna, Brandon, Katelyn and Alison; two sisters, Joyce Johnston and Judy Millett; a brother, Ronald Martin; many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with the Rev. Robert Treadwell officiating.
