BREWER – Richard P. Shaughnessy, 82, died July 16, 2005, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born Nov. 26, 1922, in Brewer, the son of Margaret (Cullinan) and Henry Shaughnessy. Dick graduated from John Bapst High School, Class of 1941. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. Dick worked for 40 years as clerk and supervisor of car accounting for the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bucksport. He was also a member of the Brewer Eagles Club. Dick loved his log cabin at Heart Pond, Orland, and his peke-a-poo, Molly II. In addition to his wife, Charlotte, of 43 years, Dick is survived by his sons, Richard Jr. and wife, Kay, of Dothan, Ala., and Michael Sr. of Philadelphia, Pa.; stepson, Ronald Soucie and Linda of Kenduskeag; and step-daughter, Georgia Pashley and David of Deer Isle; grandchildren, Richard III of Troy, Ala. Michael and Cindy of Headland, Ala. Theresa and Vaughn Wyer of Lacey, Wash., Leonard and Lori of Kissimmee, Fla., Michael Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., Holly of Philadelphia, Pa.; step-grandchildren, Todd Pashley of Brewer, Alan and Carol Wright of Dothan, Ala., Theresa and Neal Philips of LaGrange, Ga.; 19 great-grandchildren, including Lilah Pashley of Brunswick. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Henry Jr., Charles, and William Shaughnessy. A committal service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery with the Rev. Henry Wyman and Fr. Joel Cyr officiating. Those attending should meet at the Mount Pleasant cemetery office on Ohio Street. A memorial gathering will be held following the service at St. Teresa’s Parish, South Main Street, Brewer.
