EDMUNDS – Richard S. Curtis Sr., 77, died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at a Bangor hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born July 27, 1929, in Pembroke, the son of Lyman Lee Curtis and Irene (Smith) Curtis. He lived his life in Edmunds and attended schools in Edmunds and Pembroke. He was employed at Bridge Construction Corp. for many years and often would comment what good people they were to work for. He especially valued the friendships he made there. He was known for his gentle heart, sense of humor, and gentlemanly manner. He was much loved by his family and those who knew him. He married Barbara M. Gatcomb, March 12, 1948. He attended First Baptist Church, Pembroke and appreciated his Pastor Gary Kinney very much for his faithfulness and support, as did his family. Surviving are a daughter, Carol A. Robinson and her husband, Albert, of Wiscasset; a son, Richard Jr. and his wife, Rosemary, of Pembroke; a daughter, Ellen C. Gaddis of Wiscasset; two sisters, Barbara Gaylord and Alma Curtis of Edmunds; brothers, Myron Curtis and his wife, Betty, of Edmunds, Raymond Curtis and his wife, Eleanor, of Dennysville, Alton Curtis and his wife, Bessie, of Dennysville; sister-in-law, Grace Curtis of Dennysville. He was predeceased by brothers, Keith Curtis and Donald Curtis. He leaves six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who were precious to him and gave him many treasured memories. Visiting hours will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at Pembroke First Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with Pastor Gary Kinney officiating. Burial will be held after at Dennysville Cemetery. Arrangements are by McClure Family Funeral Services, Lubec.
