DEDHAM – Richard W. Hancock, 50, passed away Dec. 3, 2007, surrounded by his family, at a Bangor hos-pital. He was born Jan. 31, 1957, in Idaho, the son of Richard and Edna (McAleer) Hancock. Richard served with the U.S. Marine Corp in Japan and later with the Maine Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Delores “Dee” (Doak) Hancock of Dedham; one son, Joshua Hancock of Bangor; one daughter, Kristi Hancock of Searsport; two stepsons and their wives, Spc. Joshua Mitton and Jessica of Schweinfurt, Germany and Pfc. Brandon Giggey and Becky of Fort Carson, Colo.; three brothers, Richie Patterson of Florida, Donnie Hancock of Bucksport and Bobby Hancock and his wife, Lisa, of Dedham; two sisters, Susan Hancock of Portland and Patty Oliver of Gray; his father and mother-in-law, Keith and Shirley Doak of Brewer; sister-in-law, Dawna Dearborn of Brewer; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special dogs, Boomer and Duncan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother, Marion “Teddy” Hancock. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, with the Rev. Dana Douglass, pastor of Holden Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be next spring at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service at Brookings-Smith Family Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer.
