BANGOR – Rita C. (Coffey) Farnum, 83, passed away July 29, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility after a battle with cancer. Rita was the born July 11, 1925, in Lynn, Mass., to the late Mary (McDonald) Coffey. Rita grew up in Hampden and attended schools there. Prior to her marriage to her loving husband, Ambrose, she was employed by Freese’s department store. She was a devoted wife and mother. The world has lost a warm and loving person, and a truly loyal and faithful friend. Rita is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Ambrose B. Farnum; one son, Stephen D. Farnum; one daughter, Dee Byrne, all of Bangor; one sister, Marion E. Zito of Florida and Connecticut; two nieces, a nephew; and a very special friend, Mary Simpson of Bangor. A graveside service for Rita will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at Evergreen Cemetery, Corinth.
