FORT KENT – Rita M. Charette, 80, died peacefully March 3, 2006, at her residence in Fort Kent. She was born Dec. 20, 1925, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Denis and Clarisse (Albert) Caron. Rita was a member of the Fort Kent Senior Citizen Club. She enjoyed spending time outdoors in her garden, crocheting and crossword puzzles. In her early years, she enjoyed picking potatoes with her father. Her family was very important to her, being the center of her life. Rita resided in Oakville, Conn. for 39 years before moving back to Fort Kent in 1990. She is survived by her beloved husband of Fort Kent, Joseph “Bill” Charette, whom she married in 1946, in Daigle; six children, “Carole” and her husband, George Trosky, of Oakville, Conn. “Jim” Charette and special friend, Tammy Goss, both of Naugatuck, Conn., “Arlene” and her husband, Kent Johns, of Watertown, Conn., “Bob” and his wife, Laura Charette, of Ocala, Fla., “Robin” and her husband, Richard Budzinovski, of Naugatuck Conn., “Lisa” and her husband, Maurice Hebert, of Fort Kent; her sister, Marie Pinette of Van Buren; 16 grandchildren, George, Tracy, Dana, Lori Lee, Dawn, Becky, Sara, Bryan, Justin, Richard, Jillian, Marissa, Matthew, Jacob, Cady and Lucas; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Minal and Patrick Caron; two sisters, Amanda Pelletier and Leda Raymond. Friends may call 9 a.m. Monday, at the Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent, with the Rev. James Nadeau, officiating. Spring burial will be held in May 2006, at the Holy Family Cemetery, Daigle. In her memory, those who wish may donate to the Visiting Nurses of Aroostook, P.O. Box 688, Caribou, ME 04736.
