FRANKLIN – Robert A. Dow, 59, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at a Bangor health care facility after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 25, 1947, in Ellsworth, the son of Harriet (Tracy) Dow of Franklin and the late William A. Dow. Raised in Franklin, he attended schools there and furthered his education at Ellsworth High School. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country for two years. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he returned home to lobster and paint homes for a living. Living life to the fullest, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the family camp at Donnell Pond. In addition to his mother, family members include two sons, Robert Wilbur and his wife, Luana, of Ellsworth and Damian Pickard of Franklin; a close companion, Diane Bickford of Franklin; three grandchildren, Ryan, Morgan and Cyrus and several close friends. He was predeceased by his father, William. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at Bayview Cemetery, Franklin.
