BANGOR – Robert A. Jacobsen Sr., 70, went home to be with his Lord, May 27, 2007, surrounded by his loving family, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 19, 1936, in Brewer, the son of Louis and Doris (Cunningham) Jacobsen of Hampden. Robert attended Hampden schools and was a hard working tradesman in the dairy industry, painting and detailing cars. A proud family man, he enjoyed pleasant and humorous visits with family and friends getting outdoors to feed the squirrels and collecting flag and bald eagle memorabilia. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Mary (Willey) Jacobsen of Bangor; four children, Doris Watson and her husband, Dennis and Robin Gosselin and her husband, Raymond, all of Bangor, Robert Jacobsen Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Hudson, and Lisa Jacobsen-Ryder and her husband, Brian, of Holden; a brother, Donald Jacobsen of Boston; a sister, Evelyn Clark of Hampden; several loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Mary Irwin, Norman Jacobsen, Richard Jacobsen, Lynette Davis, Edward Jacobsen, and Eleanor Whidden. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held noon Thursday, May 31, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where family and friends may visit 11 a.m. until the service begins. A gathering of continued fellowship will be immediately afterward at Calvary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 61 State St., Brewer. Burial at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden, will be private.
