ROBERT A. LOVELY SIDNEY – With great sadness the family of Robert A. Lovely, 76, announces his death July 26, 2006, at Maine Veterans’ Home, Augusta. Bob was born Oct. 2, 1929, in Waterbury, Conn., the son of Aubrey and Edna Kinney Lovely. He grew up in Fort Fairfield, in the farm country he loved so much. He married Ethel Conroy June 27, 1949 and remained devoted to her even after her death Sept. 18, 1993. From the age of 12, he worked to help support his family. All his life, his family meant everything to him. He was a proud and loving father who always gave all he could. He cherished his brothers and sisters. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, discharged as corporal after serving three years. Bob spent many years working as a crane operator at various construction sites throughout the state. He was a member of Local No. 4 of the International Union of Operating Engineers, retiring after 50 years of service in 1992. He was especially proud of his work at the Cutler Naval Tower installation in Washington County. True to his farming heritage, he raised a huge vegetable garden and spent every fall preserving the harvest. He kept his dry sense of humor until the very last day of his life. He is survived by his daughters, Cathy L. Seluke of Sidney and Sharon Lambert of Hudson, N.H. and their husbands, William Seluke and Michael Lambert; his two grandchildren, Nicole and Kyle Lambert of Hudson, N.H.; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Sherley Lovely of Rochester, N.H.; brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Theresa Lovely of East Livermore; sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Jerry Fisher of Winterport; brother and sister-in-law, Glyn and Cheryl Lovely of Presque Isle; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Larry Atkinson of Seattle; sister-in-law, Kathryn Lovely of Rochester, N.H; his aunt, Ruth Kinney Robbins of Presque Isle; his late wife’s sister and brother-in-law, Dodie and Dale Olmstead of New Sweden; his sister-in-law, Marilee Conroy of Woodland, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Clayton Lovely. The family wishes to thank the staff at Evergreen and at Maine Veterans’ Home for their loving care during the final months of Bob’s life. Also, his daughter, Cathy, extends heartfelt thanks to his caregiver, DeeDee Bureau, for her devotion and expertise.
