OLD TOWN – Robert B. Gleason, 81, passed away Monday, March 29, 2004, at his residence following a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 17, 1923, in Arlington, Mass., son of the late Clifford R. and Anna C. (Roberts) Gleason. Bob graduated from Arlington High School and continued his education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and achieved a bachelor’s degree in forestry. He worked for James W. Sewall Co. in Old Town for 34 years. Bob was a active member of the Federated Church of Stillwater and sang in their choir. He was a member of the Bangor Barbershop Chorus for 10 years and the Old Town Zoning Board of Appeals for three years. Bob was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing the mandolin. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Sue; a daughter, Nancy Jenkins and her husband, Don; two sons, Dick and his wife, Eunyoung Gleason, and James Edward Gleason and his wife, Jonna Boure; six grandchildren; a sister, Martha Pease and her husband, Lynn; and brother, Richard Gleason. A celebration of Life will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at the Federated Church of Stillwater, with the Rev. Ron Chaffee officiating.
