MONSON – Robert “Bob” Bruce Brown, 81, passed away Nov. 23, 2006, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 2, 1925, in Guilford. Bob was a graduate of Monson Academy and earned a degree in forestry from the University of Maine – Orono. He was proud of his service in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Joyce McEachern Dec. 19, 1945. Bob was employed by Moosehead Manufacturing Co. for more than 30 years. His life revolved around his family and he was an avid outdoorsman and golfer. Active in local politics, Bob was the town treasurer, a selectman and held a position on the Monson Planning Board until his death. He was a member of the Small Woodman’s Association and a registered land surveyor. He was a dedicated supporter of education as a long-term trustee of Monson Academy. Later in life, he received great pride in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in school activities. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Brown; daughters and husbands, Glenda and Jake Smith of Dover-Foxcroft, Jolane and Rick Clawson of Monson, Bobbi Jean and Peter Ryder of Monson; and son and wife, Robert and Kym Brown of Dover-Foxcroft. He is survived by his loving grandchildren, Dirk Smith, Dean and Laurie Smith, Jared and Amanda Clawson, Davan Clawson, Megan Ryder, Nicole Brown, Bryanne Clawson, Danika Brown, Kyra Brown; and two great-grand-children, Hunter and Hyatt Smith. He will be missed by several cousins and many loving friends. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at Crosby & Neal Greenville Chapel, Masonic Building, 281 Pritham Ave., Greenville. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the Abbot Evangelical Free Church, Abbot, with the Rev. Ray Beless officiating. Burial will be held after the service at Lake Road Cemetery, Monson. A time of sharing and refreshments will be held at the church after the burial. The family requests no flowers due to allergies.
