MADAWASKA – Robert “Bob” Deschene, 70, died unexpectedly July 11, 2007, on Grand Isle. He was born April 17, 1937, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, the son of Antoine and Lucienne (Brasseur) Deschene. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served four years in Cassablanca, where he met his lovely wife, Janine. After serving his term in the U.S. military, Bob and Janine returned to Madawaska, where they raised their only son, Marc. Bob was an avid snowmobiler and helped to establish the Madawaska Snowmobile Club. His working career was spent entirely at Fraser Papers, where he had many friends and co-workers. In retirement, he moved to Florida where he enjoyed spending the winters. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Summers were spent enjoying and entertaining family and friends at his camp on Long Lake. Bob will be dearly missed by family and friends. In addition to his wife, Janine (Fouassier) Deschene of Madawaska, Bob is survived by one son, Marc Deschene and his wife, Lisa, of Fort Kent and their three children, Alicia, Renee and Eric; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Tardie. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. Friends and family may pay their visits 9 a.m. until time of services at the church. Interment will be at the Caribou Veterans’ Cemetery.
