BAR HARBOR – Robert “Bob” J. Brown, 88, died Oct. 14, 2004, at MDI Hospital. He was born Oct. 13, 1916, in Pittsfield, Mass., the son of Frank H. and Sarah Edith (Johnson) Brown. Bob owned and operated Browns I.G.A Market in Bar Harbor. He worked at The Colony for many years and at the Bar Harbor Banking & Trust Company. Bob was a member of the Bar Harbor Masonic Lodge and the Bar Harbor Congregational Church, where he was a former deacon and trustee. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Barbara M. Brown; one son, Howard Mitchell Brown and his wife, Bonnie Alexander, of Pleasantville, N.Y.; one daughter, Ruth Keene of Lamoine; and two grandchildren, Erin and Ducan Brown. Friends are invited to call 5- 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor. Funeral services will be held, 1 p.m., Monday, at the Bar Harbor Congregational Church, with Rev. Dr. Sandra Reed officiating. Interment will be at Nicholin Cemetery, North Ellsworth.
