ANAHEIM, Calif., and MANSET – Robert C. Gascon “Bob,” 52, died unexpectedly July 6, 2004, as a result of natural causes while driving on Freeway 91 in Buena Park, Calif. He was born Dec. 6, 1951, in Bar Harbor, the son of George and Gertrude (Dunbar) Gascon. He graduated from Mount Desert Island High School and attended the University of Maine and Emerson College in Boston, Mass. He owned and operated Bob’s Lunch in Southwest Harbor for many years and was well known for his cooking abilities and daily luncheon specials. For the last 22 years Bob lived and worked in California where he was a sales managing partner of Aetna Capital and equipment leasing company in Fullerton, Calif. He became renowned as on of the nations foremost authorities of screen printing equipment in the United States. His ability to comprehend technical information on the variety of equipment that he leased led people from all parts of the country to consult with him before purchasing manufacturing equipment for their industries. Bob loved reading, fishing, cars, his family, and his beloved golden retriever, “Weesa.” Bob will be sadly missed by his parents of Manset; his only sister, Josette Pettegrow and husband, Anthony, of Lamoine; a very special nephew and friend, Warren B. Pettegrow, of Winter Harbor; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A memorial gathering was held at Bob’s home in Anaheim, Calif., on Sunday, July 11, 2004, for his many friends and business associates in California. Friends are invited to call 12-2 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2004, at the Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. Interment at Mt. Height Cemetery will be private.
