WINTERPORT – Robert E. Hersey Sr., 75, died June 30, 2006. He was born May 24, 1932, in Easton, the son of the late Millie (McCarty) and Verde Hersey. Bob was married to Glenda (Stickney) Hersey for 25 years. He lived in Easton and raised his family. He served in the Korean War for two years. In his early years, Bob enjoyed camping, gardening, and spending time with his daughter, “Julie-Bug,” raising farm animals. In his later years, Bob enjoyed doing projects around his home, building model airplanes and watching the Boston Red Sox. Our beloved Dad, Grampy, brother and “Old Horsehair,” will be remembered for his big heart and sense of humor. He is survived by his love of 17 years, Linda Bendure and their golden retriever, Sally; his two sons and daughters-in-law; Robert and Mary Lynn Hersey of Winterport and Jack and Deb of Easton; six grandchildren, Andrew, Bradford, Lukas, Ashley Hersey, Kylee and Bryanna Parker; his sister, Lois Fisher of Bridgeton; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his precious daughter, Julie Ann (Hersey) Brewster; his twin sister, Elizabeth “Betty” (Hersey) Tweedy; five sisters and one brother. Bob will return home for his burial at Estes Park Cemetery, Center Street, Easton, where a graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, July 9.
