BANGOR – Robert M. Sterling, 67, died July 3, 2006, after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born the son of Sidney Newell Sterling and Joyce Amanda Sterling. He was educated at the California School for the Deaf in Berkeley, Calif. Bob had a career as a graphic designer and taught sign language in Omaha, Neb. He was active with the local Democratic committee in Bangor for many years, as well as a delegate for the state convention. His energy and humor will be greatly missed. Bob loved to speak of his heritage; as a Stirling from Scotland. Surviving are his sister; Callie Jean Stanek and her husband, Bob; a son, Kelly McCord Sterling and his wife, Staci. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 7, at Ross Manor, Rose Dining Hall, 758 Broadway, Bangor. Arrangements by Memorial Alternatives, 205 Center St., Bangor.
