HAMPDEN – Robert Edward Laskey, 67, passed away June 28, 2008, at a Brewer health care facility after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 18, 1941, in Brewer, the son of Lewis and Inez (Rankin) Laskey. Robert attended Hampden schools and worked for Eastern Construction Co., Evans Hampden Shoe and at the time of his retirement, was a C.N.A. at Brewer Rehab and Living Center. He was an avid reader, liked to do woodcarving and sit at the Hampden Marina, reading, eating and watching the boats come and go. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Laskey; son, Dale Laskey, both of Bangor; two sisters, Maxine Ouellette of Hampden and Donna Merchant and her husband, Clarence, of Hampden; a brother, Edward Laskey of Belfast; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Lewis and Inez. In keeping with Robert’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours or funeral. A committal service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden, with the Rev. Clarence Merchant II officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.
