PRESQUE ISLE – Robert E. Sirois, born May 22, 1929, the son of Almida Mazerolle of Sei-gas, New Bruns-wick, and Abel Sirois of Kee-gan, died Oct. 27, 2007, in Mars Hill, after a valiant fight with renal cancer. “Pidge” grew up in Fort Kent and raised his family in Ashland with wife, Helene, daughter of Lucius and Rose (Labbe) LeBoeuf of Plaisted. Bob spent his work life in the lumbering industry as a scaler for his father-in-law, several years for Pinkham Lumber as sales manager and then as an independent lumber broker selling wood products all over the world. In 1986 he and Helene retired to the tranquility of Squa Pan Lake. Robert was a veteran of the Korean War, serving honorably as an infantryman at Chosin Reservoir, 1950-1951 and as physical trainer at Fort Devens, Mass. The experience, and his seminary background, contributed to his strong anti-war beliefs. Ever the lover and serious reader of history, he would gladly support his observations that wars are created by the few and suffered by the masses. Bob proudly remembered his musical heritage through the Mazerolle’s, his mother’s multitalented family. He enjoyed classical music, especially Chopin when performed by his brother, Emile. The Sirois family wishes to thank Drs. Christina Reilly and Amarnath Ramineni for their devotion, medical expertise and friendship. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the staff at TAMC Rehabilitation Center, Mars Hill. The care, compassion and kindness given Robert was second to none. The Sirois’ would also like to recognize the overwhelming support given to them from friends and family. Robert leaves his devoted wife of 55 years, Helene of Squa Pan Lake, Mapleton; his sisters, Simone Johnson of Nevada and Janet Savage of Connecticut; his brother, Emile and wife, Antonia, of New Jersey; his children, Janet O’Clair and her husband, Armand, of Hermon, Robert Jr. and his wife, Beth Anne (Sewell), of Presque Isle, Phyllis Sirois of Garfield, and Phillip and his wife, Pamela (Audibert), of Vermont; his grandchildren, Marc-Armand and his wife, Audrey (Berry), Nicole and Noelle O’Clair, Whitney and Benjamin Sirois, Jesse, Charles and Emilie Robinson, Lucas, Matthew and Alexander Sirois; great-grandchildren, Weston Charles Robinson, Sophie Berry O’Clair and Collin Auclair Loranger; numerous beloved cousins, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Arthur; and sister, Beatrice. At Roberts’s request, a private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for support of all Veterans of Foreign Wars. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com
