OAKFIELD – Robert Fisher, 84, died Oct. 6, 2004, at his home. He was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Bangor, the son of Harry “Had” and Alice Fisher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He owned and operated Fisher’s Appliance Shop and was postmaster of Oakfield Post Office from 1959 to 1985. He was a hamm radio operator, call No. W1RSN and was an avid computer buff. He is survived by two daughters, Judith Williams of Augusta and Becky and her husband, Dave Brodigan, of Bridport, Vt.; three grandchildren, especially, Molly Brodigan; one sister-in-law, Helen and her husband, Ron Boutilier; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and close family friends, Leonard Lougee, Herman Archer and Debbie and Eugene Schillinger and his brookside buddies. He was predeceased by his wife, Aileen “Sis” (Swallow) Fisher. Family calling hours will be held 2-3 p.m. Saturday at Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls. Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Oakfield Cemetery, with the Rev. Kirby Rushton officiating.
