FREEDOM – Robert H. Ellis Sr., 71, passed away at his home in Freedom on Oct. 31, 2003. He was born May 26, 1932, in Walpole, Mass., the son of Everett F. and Elizabeth Doderer Ellis. Robert was a graduate of Norfolk County Agricultural School in Walpole, Mass. For 41 years he worked for the Kendall family of Sharon, Mass., until 1994 when he retired to Freedom. He was a member of the Maine Christmas Tree Growers Association, the Maine Farm Bureau, the Frye Mountain Sno-Riders and he was affiliated with the Northern Lites Band. Bob loved being with his family and friends, fishing in Grand Lake Stream, dancing, and working in the woods with his Christmas trees. He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, George. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara (Olson) Ellis of Freedom; three sons, Robert Ellis Jr. of Millis, Mass., William and wife, Enid, of Marion, Mass., and Stephen of Sharon, Mass.; also four grandchildren, Timothy and Nicole Ellis of Sharon, Mass., Alissa and Heather Ellis of Marion, Mass. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Unity Ambulance Service, Unity Maine or the Freedom Fire Deptartment, Freedom, Maine, or the Charity of your choice. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Rackliffe Funeral Home, 54 Church St., Belfast, Maine, with Rev. Richard Reynolds of the First Baptist Church of Belfast, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Arrangements are with the Rackliffe Funeral Home, 54 Church St., Belfast.
