PRESQUE ISLE – Robert J. Poiesz, 55, died peacefully, Sept. 8, 2005, with his loving, devoted wife holding his hand and whispering prayers and peace at his bedside. He was born Dec. 3, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of George and Mildred (Stetler) Poiesz. Robert lived life to the fullest. He was a goal driven man that loved life, people and most of all his family. His spiritual faith brought him peace and patience though out each and every day. All of this is proven through each of his life’s successes. He served proudly as a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years. After his military service, he continued successful careers in different financial, teaching and human resource positions; all while actively continuing his education, earning his MBA from Husson College. Most recently he worked for the Defense Finance & Accounting Service in Limestone; service to the Presque Isle City Council and active participation in his local church community. While he always had success and devoted himself to his work; family and friends were always a priority. His greatest joys were spending time and providing memories for his wife and children. He truly enjoyed gathering his friends, always ready to entertain with his sense of humor, quick wit and positive demeanor. He is loved because of his true gentlemen ways and ability to make people feel comfortable. His true priority was his love of his wife. They were best friends, inseparable. They traveled the world together, provided for their family, worked together, prayed together, laughed together and cherished each other everyday for 35 years. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janpen Poiesz; daughter, Mildred Poiesz-Keegan; a son, Robert George Poiesz; two grandchildren, Cassidy Keegan and Isabella Keegan; son-in-law, Christopher Keegan. His mother, Mildred Stetler-Poiesz; and brother, William Poiesz, both of Philadelphia, Pa., and so many other loving, devoted family members and friends in the community and abroad. The family is celebrating Robert’s life with calling hours being held 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Presque Isle Wesleyan Church with Pastor Bob Blackstone officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to send heartfelt appreciation for all the devoted support, prayers and energy shown to Robert during his battle with cancer. Special thanks go to Mr. and Mrs. John Christie for the daily visitation and prayers. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to C-A-N-C-E-R, P.O. Box 811, Presque Isle, ME 04769.
